Ammandaneed to report and check some things about SotsC and compatibility
#1
Hello.
I did contant you on discord, you directed me on forum, I registered right now.

I'm playing EET, manual install (by K4thos EET V14.1). I'm playing with really lot lot mods, and this is mostly play to further determing proper install order and test things, and to troubleshoot anything, also to report to modders anything I catch.

Playing slowly, I'm soon moving to Chapter2 (as I think there is almost nothing left in 1, at least for what I found).

First thing, I need to check this. About quest Big apetite in small Gullykin. So far I found one componet after raiding Xvart village. I'm reading walkhtrough for your mod, so I picked something which bugs me.

It states that another component is with Telka (and I did check in Near Infinity I think, and she have another component in her inventory). She is one in party which await you when you clear Naskhel mines, and exit to Valley of Tombs. Problem is, for years I play EET (some years ago I used different tool, but it was same), and always in EET that party is never present in Vallet of Tombs.

My question is, does in EET that party is moved somewhere else? In that case, I ask for advice. Or they do not spawn anymore? If that is case, than it is issue which I need to report (surely you would find a way to adress it, there is endless solutions to simply move item to someone else or somewhere else).

Now, another thing is, Stone of Askavar. Mod which is very nice, it needs to be installed in BG1 directory but works perfect on EET.

If you want I will post link of walkthrough of it.

In Chapter 5, after you solve Mines, you can start this quest. Problem is, one of items mandatory to progress this quest is located in cave in area just north of Naskhel. Coordinates for that cave is 1600 - 3500. Entrance do not exist until quest is started.

As I play now, I found that cave accessible in Chapter 1, and seems it is from SotsC - The Melting Man.
It is definite same cave Stone of Askavar uses. I did check, but it leads to area of your mod at moment.
So, at moment I do not have idea but soon I may, as I will progress to Chapter 2 and Naskhel and see if The Melting Man quest is available than. But I doubt it is going later to switch to SoA area. Correct me if I'm wrong.

For me it is not such problem at moment as this all is one big test play, I can spawn needed item later on or move by console to SoA area (which should be behind that cave entrance in Chapter 5), if I discover area name, but if this is compatibiliy thing, I must report it to you now.

Mod is yours of course to dedice whaterver you want, but I ask, not only for me but for all players, to not proclaim incompatiliby, but in case that this is indeed issue, that some solution be considered. Example making another cave entrance nearby, or whatever could be best compromise solution, to make all content compatible.

SotsC version I have installed is V9.0

Thanks in advance and looking forward for any cooperation

I completed quest Melting man.

I will await your response. Until Chapter 5, in this play, it will be perhaps long time until I get to that chapter.

Hi! Let's divide it into some points Smile

1. Big appetite quest: Telka is also there in EET, so I only see two options: it's either you go the wrong direction (she north / north-east from the mine exit) or there is another mod that affects them, which I doubt. EET does not change content so the team should be there, and that's not SotSC issue, nor that of EET.

2. SotSC and Stone of Askavar are fully compatible. It was discussed here:

Hi,
Lava did something for compatibility with Stone of Askavar long ago, you don't have to worry about it.

About the amazons party not in the tombs area, did you installed the improved bounty hunters component from Sword Coast Stratagem ? If yes, answer is in SCS readme ;-).

Trouveur -- thanks for letting us know about SCS.

It looks like you may need to travel a bit during CH3 to let them find you Ammanda

Cheers!

I have this from SCS installed :

~STRATAGEMS/SETUP-STRATAGEMS.TP2~ #0 #7040 // Relocated bounty hunters: 35.21

Trouveur, would you tell me where they are in Chapter3?

But even now, it is very good to know that nothing is broken, all is going to work fine.

For Stone of Askavar cave, this is nice suprise that is it already taken care of that. I finished Melting Man quest in Chapter2. Lets see once I reach Chapter5, but it will take time until than. What I quickly did catch on beamdog forum, it is handle, cave may expand or something like that, let it remain suprise than, all I need to know is now fact is is going to work together and no compatibily issues.

Lava, for rest of SotsC, I'm playing at moment, finished some number of quests from that mod, all is great and nice and worked without issue so far.
But this play will take time, especially as I try to cover all.

Lava, one more question inside this mod - Infesting Light.

I cleaned all zombies at map, talked with farmer there, and than some undead creature appears and starts talk. Seems all I can is to kill him. When I kill him some "star like" symbol remain on that place, at least for some time or until rest, cannot recall. And soon after fog starts all over map.

Thats all fine, but quest (in your journal) never marks as completed. I did try few times. Let me know I'm missing something, or it is minor bug. if it is bug I can see to tweak it with Near Infinity maybe to set it as completed when it have to be, or if that not going to cause any issues, just EEKeeper it to delete it or set it as completed (faster, this is anyway test play).

Walkthrough I found for your mod states for some reason this quest under Chapter5, but why? As it is accessible as in Chapter1 (I try it that way, but because of this, decided to not save and for now leave that area unexplored until I check with you).

It's Wisp's "corpse". These creatures should have "no corpse" setting, but I always forget about them, they shall disappear at some point.

After you kill the Infesting Light, the farmer should start the talk. If he did not, then perhaps try talking to him. I just checked it and it worked.

Ok I will test once more now. Going to kill some zombies anyway on my way to farmer, so he gives me quest.

Than gonna kill all zombies.

Return to farmer and see what happens (may make test save there so it all be faster).

This is what happens. When you report to farmer, he pay, you get xp, and he thanks. Than he says that he and other farmers could expland their farms as problems is solved.

Than dialogue is terminated for brief moment. Than he repeat exact same line I writen. Than that undead appears and I kill him. Farmer starts dialogue and again (but different) say that I saved him and thanks, I think. He than asks what about fog.

Moment that undead is killed, his corspe disappear. (only some strange star or symbol remain on ground for some time).

I see now more precise, two same journal entries are made. Both under same name (Zombie infestation). One of them is marked as completed as says that I could negotiate price with farmer. Another one is fully non completed, and it says that farmer will count zombies, and than pay me after they are cleaned.

After all is done, fog remains.

If all problems is in some minor error in dialogue files, can I use EEKeeper (does it provoke any potental issue) to delete that duplicate quest (which is nonsense anyway as it state something which is completed already). Asking for EEKeeper as it is way faster than tweaking dialogue file with Near Infinity.

My mod introduces Infesting Light, and it looks like it is completed as you don't see the journal active and he thanked you after killing the light.

The other thing you describe is from another mod, and I do not know which, perhaps you still need to do something, or give him some time and return later on. I have no idea truth be told.

Oh, as for the fog - it usually disappears after a rest.

I can check perhaps his dialogue file with changelog (can also his .cre).

If this helps any, I'm uploading picture from part of dialogue (triggers and actions) :

I see 4 prefixes there: L# Which is mine. There are also:
X# which is for BG1 NPC Project,
X3 which is Skitia's prefix,
NT which is... Northern Tales, I think?

You would need to somehow check which of these ads these lines you speak of. Not sure if that helps. I do not know which of these is keeping the quest active.

About the zombies, it's probably NtotSC affecting the dialog and quest journal entry.

About the bounty hunters, they are now a random ambush, meaning they will attack you during travel. between areas.
