I am a little uncertain as to where to post this, you don't seem to have a bug thread area. However that is, i am having a problem with some of the areas in the Tangled Oak. Specifically, i can't enter the building between the Bed and Breakfast and the Druid's place. It does a CTD with the error message about 'it can't uncompress the area AR160A', which doesn't exist. It also does a CTD when i try to enter the building to the other side of the Bed and Breakfast, AR110A, which also doesn't exist.
The game is BG2 TOB. The version of Tangled Oak is v2.01.
Any help will be appreciated.

Hi! Just to clarify - you use BG2 version, not BG2EE, right?
Hmm, a bit weird, I think I may need to consult it with someone. It affects only happens on those 2 areas, right?

Those two certainly use existing areas refferences (for tilsets, wallgroups / overlays etc) and it looks as if the old engine couldn't "connect the dots". Perhaps CamDawg will know how to fix this? I know such problems existed on some installations when area file was using some .tis refferences that are not in override, but install.tph copies those tises to override to prevent such thing from happening. I guess something else may be needed...

I'm pretty sure this is the same bug I had with Tweaks and the Sensible Entrance points, as it had a very similar error message, and Wisp identified the problem.

Wisp added a function, DECOMPRESS, that I use on the biff containing the area file I patched:

DECOMPRESS_BIFF AREA090A.BIF

So you probably need to find the biff that contains the resources you're patching and make sure the biff is decompressed first.

You are right, this is the vanilla game BG2. I thought that i had a version of Tangled Oak for the EE game, but i checked and it isn't.

Still, the problem is kinda weird, as the mod uses existing resources and I do not patch original files, just "depend on them" in tearms of using some regions, tilsets. Really really really weird. I am unsure how to help you for now Truman535 but to make sure you have access to characters that are inside those houses, you can use console to summon them right outside their homes. Console information: https://gibberlings3.github.io/iesdp/app...ua/bg2.htm

When you summon someone with console, they always appear in the centre of your currect screen. You would need to use this code on the for the character from the house east from B&B:
CLUAConsole:CreateCreature("L#NINOB")
It's a nobleman, that can do something with one of the items you may find, otherwise he's not really useful.

For the character that is living in the house west from the B&B you need to use:
CLUAConsole:CreateCreature("L#NIH01")
He is just a guy who may tell you some stuff about the area. Nothing else.

I hope that this partial fix for your current run will help you at least a tiny bit.

Alright. I do have the config set to create an error log. I looked up the last 2 errors and misread the location of where the two area files were. I then used DLTCEP to uncompress the files. AR160A worked fine, AR110A i had to do 3 times before it worked. I copied the 2 uncompressed area files from the data directory to the cache directory and everything now works, it probably would have worked as is, i just wanted to be certain. I over thought the problem and kept looking in the wrong place.

Great! I am happy you are able to continue your game, Truman535 Smile I will probably add a decompress function in the next mod version if the mod is installed on the old game version to prevent it from happening.

Hi there,

I don't know if I have a bug or what, but I'm stuck in the "Jaalv" quest. I have followed the dog to the cave, got inside, recovered the tainted liquid, but Jaalv was not inside. I have no Idea how to use the vial of liquid, and nothing about Jaalv.
Where is he supposed to be?

Something got messed up in your game:
you should have followed the dog, then there would be nothing inside there, and you should get out of that area and then you'd be sent to talk to some characters you already know. You shouldn't be able to get deeper into the cave just yet.
Are you by any chance using "no traps and locks" component or anything like that?

When I entered in the cave (grey one), i immediatly found the secret passage to the north, and found the Dragon skeleton. If I speak with any character related to that quest (the prietress of Umberlee, Finn, Oola etc... there's no dialog option to go further or to even speak about it.

That's the thing, you shouldn't be able to find it. The difficulty is set to 900% and while recently I found out the value of 100% makes it unable to detect it, I have no idea how you would find it with the present difficulty level.

You would need to load the game to the point when before the entrance got detected and then check the area, go up and down and near the entrance you somehow detected, and then leave the area. You may even get a note nothing's inside. And don't forget to talk to the dog before you enter the cave.

In the next version I will try to make it totally impossible to detect the entrance, will recode those checks.

Ok I loaded an old save, and a boy asked me to go to see Oola.

This save is long before, I'd like to keep my latest save.

What is the code of this boy? Is it L#LLBOY? If I create it with the console, he reminds silent.
Do you have a code to trigger this boy, and his dialog so that I can go on?

It's not that simple, the variables are messed up now. You can try using C:SetGlobal("L#NIMainQuest","GLOBAL",18) while in the cave, near the hidden entrance, then leave, and the right creature should appear. But it's most likely things will get messed up anyway and you'll need to cast fireball to open the "hidden passage" even though you see it already. And there's a huge chance journal entries will stay messed up.

Alternatively, use the code above, follow the quest to the point when you are told to use fireball or detect illusions to find the passage and once you are on the deeper cave area, remain near the entrance and use C:SetGlobal("L#NIMainQuest","GLOBAL",24)

The global 18 did not give any result, but that's ok, since I can easily get the missing dialogues from an old save.
The global 24 did the job.

Now I remember I might have installed an component to auto-detect secret passages... That may be the issue...
