I just finished killing the last beholder after using the four potions and the game freezes after saying it would provide a ring. I am using version 1.4.0 of idee

Sorry, but you should always use up to date version of the EE game with modern mods. Patch 2.0 introduced engine update and many modern mods depend on them, plus there are many more other bugs that were fixed later on.
